Maria Ní Mhurchú

Maria is a free-lance writer for television, stage and radio. She is also a poet. Her Irish poetry book Duilleoga Draíochta won a major All-Ireland award in at An Oireachtas. Caite le Chéile and Tomás na bPúcaí also won awards and the plays in both books have been staged, with much critical acclaim.
Maria developed and wrote a comedy series of 6 episodes in Irish called “Boghaisíní”, directed by Art Ó Briain and produced by Gerry McGolgan - Crimson Films - and Magma - a Galway based production company - which was commissioned by TG4 and was televised thereafter.
Maria is the Film Officer for Féile na Bealtaine festival in Dingle. She is a native Irish speaker; a member of The Irish Screenwriters and Playwrights Guild, Maria is also a founding member of IFTA – Irish Film & Television Academy.
